“Fourth (and Fifth) A’Fair” Brings Back a Fireworks Show for the Independence Day Holiday Weekend Along with Rides, Food and Music
A fireworks spectacle returns for the first time in several years to the New York State Fairgrounds for the Independence Day holiday weekend as a new family event takes place July 4 - 5. “Fourth (and Fifth) A’Fair” brings kid-friendly carnival rides and food, music, and, on July 5, fireworks in the skies over the Fairgrounds. The event takes place from 2 - 10 p.m. July 4 and 1 – 10 p.m. July 5 outside the Exposition Center. Admission and parking are free.
The festival will feature approximately 12 carnival rides, including a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, a fun house, a merry-go-round and an Avengers-themed ride, as well as carnival games. All-you-can-ride wristbands are available for $25 and include a youth admission to the Salt City Comic Con, which runs July 6 - 7 in the Expo Center, and an admission to the 2019 Great New York State Fair. Organizers will also give away a Lifetime Pass to the Fair.
There will be barbecue from Limp Lizard Bar & Grill, Hofmann hot dogs, and carnival favorites such as cotton candy, corn dogs, deep fried Oreos and fried dough.
July 5 will feature three area performers, leading up to the 9:30 p.m. fireworks display, sponsored by Pinnacle Employee Services. Zac Robinson performs at 4 p.m., followed by Sera Bullis at 5:30 p.m. and Chasing Neon at 7:30 p.m.
Allen LaVenture, co-producer of the event, said, “Having an event on the 4th and 5th on the Fairgrounds was an easy decision. When you think of the Fair you think of families, fun, rides and, of course, the food. When you add fireworks, it’s a great way to celebrate our independence and a fantastic lead in to the Salt City Comic Con!”
Fourth (and Fifth) A’Fair is produced in partnership with the New Your State Fairgrounds and leads into Salt City Comic Con, a two-day festival celebrating popular culture in comics, books, movies and more. Tickets for Comic Con can be purchased here, and information about the festival can be found on the Comic Con website.
